On Saturday, Nov. 7, Murray's calendar splits at lunchtime. Four church holiday sales open between 7 and 8 a.m., and every one of them closes by 1 p.m. At noon, Murray Main Street opens Third Street Beerfest downtown. Racer football kicks off at 1. If you plan to do both, give the morning the most thought, because that's when the sales overlap and they all end close together.
Two things run across both halves of the day. One is the Murray Art Guild's Holiday Sale, which is open until 2 p.m. Saturday in its new building. The other is the Murray-Calloway County Chamber of Commerce's Holiday Open House Weekend, which runs Friday through Sunday. Both give you more room than the bazaars do, and both make it easier to pick a morning without worrying about missing everything else.
Four church sales, three of them in the same four hours
Murray Tourism's events calendar lists four church holiday sales for Nov. 7. Here they are by opening time:
- Kirksey United Methodist Holiday Bazaar, 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. This one opens first and closes last.
- Murray First UMC United Women in Faith Holiday Bazaar, 8 a.m. to noon, in the gymnasium at 503 Maple St. The listing says to park in the rear lot and enter through the gym doors.
- Christmas in the Country Bazaar at Goshen United Methodist Church, 4726 KY 121 N, 8 a.m. to noon.
- First Christian Church Holiday Event, 8 a.m. to noon.
Three of the four run exactly 8 a.m. to noon. Unless you started at Kirksey at 7, you're choosing among three sales that open at the same time and close at the same time.
They don't sell the same things, which makes the choice easier. The Women in Faith bazaar lists baked goods, household goods, Christmas and holiday décor, interior décor, and furniture, and the proceeds support the church's mission work. Bring the bigger vehicle if furniture is on your list. Goshen's Christmas in the Country lists homemade goods, attic treasures, and country ham biscuits, which are reason enough to go early. Its proceeds support youth and charity events.
Kirksey's sale has its own history. A Murray Ledger & Times church listing has described its Holiday Bazaar and White Elephant Sale as an annual event with homemade crafts, painted gourds, baked goods, jams and jellies, a cookie exchange, and white-elephant items. In an earlier year, the Ledger reported that bazaar proceeds went to the Reelfoot Christmas Store. Kirksey also stays open an hour past the others, so it makes a good last stop if your morning runs long.
The Art Guild sale stretches past noon
Of the Saturday holiday sales, the MAG Holiday Sale is the one that stays open latest. According to the Chamber's listing, the 2026 sale "will be held on two days this year." On Friday, Nov. 6, MAG members shop from 4 to 6 p.m. and the public is welcome from 6 to 8 p.m. On Saturday, Nov. 7, it's open to the public from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
It's also in a new place. The Murray Art Guild's site asks shoppers to "please note the new location at MAG - 500 N. 4th Street," and promises "handmade items and treasures from local artists in our area." The Chamber page for the 2024 MAG Art Market and Holiday Open House gave 403 Maple St. as the address, so if you're going from memory, head to the North 4th Street building this year.
The Saturday hours set up the whole day. The MAG is open while the bazaars are open, and it's still open for two hours after three of them close. That puts it between the morning and afternoon shifts. You can shop the bazaars until noon, walk through the MAG, and still make it to Third Street or the stadium. The Friday public hour, 6 to 8 p.m., means you can skip the MAG on Saturday entirely and keep the morning for bazaars.
At noon, Third Street takes over
Murray Main Street's Third Street Beerfest opens at noon at North 3rd Street and Main Street and runs until 6 p.m. Everyone attending must be 21 or older with a valid ID. On the Eventbrite page, tickets start at $28.52 and include ten 8-ounce pours, a 16-ounce stadium cup, pretzels, a koozie, and giveaways. There will also be live music and food trucks.
The festival is now a regular part of the fall calendar. Chamber listings show it on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024, and Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025, both from noon to 6 p.m., so this is at least the third fall edition in a row with the same hours. Each year it has started at noon, which is right when three of the four bazaars close and an hour before Kirksey does. That timing is why Saturday splits in two.
The 1 p.m. kickoff is Junior Racer Day
Murray State hosts Youngstown State at 1 p.m. at Rudolph Family Field at Roy Stewart Stadium. In its July 2026 promotions release, the athletics department named the game Junior Racer Day and Youth Sports Day.
So the afternoon has two audiences. Beerfest is 21 and up. Kickoff is a youth-focused game. A family can spend the morning at the bazaars and go straight to the stadium. A group of adults can do the bazaars and then Third Street. Homecoming was Oct. 17 and Senior Day is Nov. 21, so the stadium on Nov. 7 will feel different from either of those dates.
The Chamber's open house covers all three days
The Murray-Calloway County Chamber of Commerce's annual Holiday Open House Weekend is the most flexible part of the weekend. The tourism calendar lists it from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday, Nov. 6, through Sunday, Nov. 8. It's spread across participating local businesses, not held at one venue. The Ledger's photos from 2025 showed shoppers at Plantation Place and New Life Christian Bookstore on that Saturday. Those stores took part last year. Check each store's own posts to see who's participating this year.
That three-day span makes the morning crunch easier. Bazaars happen only on Saturday morning, but store visits can wait until Friday or Sunday. A Saturday that starts at 8 a.m. and ends at the stadium doesn't need a store stop at all.
One way to fit both shifts into Saturday
- Friday, Nov. 6, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Visit a few open house stores if your day allows.
- Friday, Nov. 6, 6 to 8 p.m.: Shop the public hours of the MAG Holiday Sale at 500 N. 4th St.
- Saturday, 7 to 8 a.m.: Start at Kirksey United Methodist, the only sale open before 8.
- Saturday, 8 a.m. to noon: Pick one or two of the 8-to-noon sales. Women in Faith at 503 Maple St. is the one with furniture. Goshen on KY 121 N has country ham biscuits.
- Saturday, noon to 2 p.m.: Stop by the MAG if you skipped Friday, or catch Kirksey before it closes at 1. Or head to North 3rd and Main for Beerfest, or to Roy Stewart Stadium for the 1 p.m. kickoff.
- Sunday, Nov. 8, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Visit the open house stores you missed.
If you want something handmade from a Calloway County artist or a church kitchen this year, Saturday morning before lunch is when you'll find it.
